Top 5 Wedding Moments That Always Make Me Emotional
These are the moments I never stop feeling, no matter how many weddings I shoot.
After a year of photographing weddings across Texas (and beyond!), I’ve learned one beautiful truth: every wedding has its own rhythm—yet some moments never stop catching me off guard-in the best way.
As a photographer, I’m there to document the day—but I’m also right there feeling it all with you. Here are five moments that always pull at my heartstrings.
1. The First Look—Or That First Glance at the Aisle
Whether a couple chooses a private first look or waits for that walk down the aisle, that moment is magic. The nerves. The deep breath. The way eyes lock and time seems to pause. It’s vulnerable and real, and I’m always honored to quietly capture it without interrupting the rawness of it all.
2. When Parents (or Grandparents) Get Emotional
As a mom myself, this one hits hard. Seeing a parent wipe away a tear, or a grandparent proudly smiling at the couple—it gets me every time. These aren’t just wedding photos; they become family treasures, holding a piece of legacy you’ll never want to forget.
3. Private Vows or Letters
Some couples read their vows in private, or exchange handwritten letters before the ceremony. These moments feel sacred—intimate, and full of meaning. As I stand back with my lens, I can feel the weight of every word, and it’s one of the most personal things I get to witness.
4. the Speeches That Take Everyone by Surprise
I’ve heard plenty of toasts, but sometimes someone speaks with just the right mix of honesty, humor, and love—and suddenly the whole room is laughing one moment and tearing up the next. Those are the moments that stick with me, and I always aim to catch the emotion on every face.
5. That Just-Married Glow
Right after the ceremony, when the couple walks away hand-in-hand for the first time as married—it’s pure joy. The relief, the happiness, the “we did it” energy—it’s unfiltered, real, and honestly? One of my favorite times to sneak in a few portraits. The same goes for the final exit—when the sparklers light up, the cheers rise, and they head off into forever together. There’s something so special about those in-between moments where the emotion just pours out.
