From Mountains to Beaches: My Favorite Places to Capture Love Stories
A collection of places, people, and memories I'll never forget
One of my favorite things about photography is that every session tells a different story. Sometimes that story happens close to home, and sometimes it takes me somewhere completely new.
While I've photographed most of my sessions in Texas, I've been lucky enough to capture love stories in a few pretty incredible places along the way. Each location has had its own personality, and honestly, that's part of what makes this job so much fun.
A Rainy Day at Garden of the Gods
One of the most memorable engagement sessions I've photographed was at Garden of the Gods in Colorado.
The weather wasn't exactly what you'd call ideal—it was drizzly and overcast for most of the session—but somehow that made it even more memorable. Instead of hiking around the trails, we stayed on the paved paths and worked with the weather we were given.
The moody skies, the red rock formations, and the light rain created a completely different feel than the sunny Colorado photos you usually see online. It was proof that you don't need perfect weather to create beautiful images.
Palm Trees and Florida Weddings
As a Texas girl, palm trees automatically make me feel like I'm on vacation.
When I photographed a wedding in Florida, one of my favorite things was seeing those tall palms swaying in the background and the Spanish moss draped amongst the trees like a scene from a fairytale. Everything felt a little more tropical, a little more relaxed, and completely different from the scenery I'm used to photographing at home.
Every location has its own personality, and Florida definitely brought a fun, coastal vibe to the day.
Golden Light on the Water
One of my favorite bridal sessions took place at Lake Grapevine.
There's something about being near the water that instantly creates a peaceful atmosphere. The soft light reflecting off the lake, the open views, and the quiet moments made the whole session feel effortless.
It was a reminder that you don't have to travel across the country to find a beautiful backdrop.
A Hidden Gem in Minnesota
Another wedding that stands out to me took place in Minnesota.
The farm was tucked away from everything—surrounded by trees, open space, and the kind of quiet you don't find very often. It was one of those places where you could truly disconnect from the outside world and focus on what mattered most.
The natural setting gave the entire day a cozy, intimate feel that perfectly matched the couple's story.
Texas Will Always Be Home
As much as I love photographing in new places, Texas will always have my heart.
From lakeside views and wildflowers to charming downtown streets and wide-open sunsets, there are so many incredible locations right here at home. Some of my favorite sessions have happened in places that most people would drive right past without a second thought.
The Best Part Isn't the Location
Don't get me wrong—I love a mountain view, a lake at sunset, or a row of palm trees.
But the thing I remember most from every session isn't the scenery.
It's the people.
The laughter during an engagement session. The excitement before a wedding ceremony. The quiet moments nobody else notices. The location helps tell the story, but the connection between two people is always the reason I'm there in the first place. And whether that's in Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Florida, Minnesota, or somewhere I've never been before, I'm always excited to capture it.
